The Beginning

The Beginning

Well to start off, thank you all for reading my first ever blog. I just want to feel how a written blog is as I never done it before and at the same time would like to share my exciting journey with the rest of you.
Well how did I started being a Master of Ceremonies aka Emcee. The story was simple though despite how long winded this post is, I was somewhat forced to be involved in my brother's wedding preparations so my task is to ensure wedding reception is well coordinated. Made a checklist which was pretty simple outlined as below:

Venue : Check!
Decorator : Check!
Sound & Light : Check!
Performers : Check!
Emcee : ???

"Emcee?Who can it be?" Ideally we knew many well known Emcees around the town and they are expensive so to go with our budget, I volunteered myself to be the host of my brothers reception. It was noble, gutsy and a cocky move I must say as I had no clue of what I am going to pull up on stage. So I dragged my sister in law's brother(Dashan) together on the stage as it would not be as nerve wrecking as standing there alone.

After doing much research on YouTube, reading many online notes on how to entertain and talk on stage (didn't really do me a big favor though) I assumed that this is going to be a walk in the park!!! By nature, I could guarantee that all my friends would classify me as a chatty clown who does not know when to shut up:D Plus in my years of experience dancing on stage and event management, I believed that this would flow smoothly like a summer breeze.

Right before stepping up on the stage, Dashan tells me to take a few gulps from his whisky flask, just to shake it all off(not sure if it really did help though). Now, we had no introduction, no music entrance or any other ... how should I put it... Dhoom Dham! Bollywood's displayed hero's entrance in a movie (because I believe feeling like a hotshot before stage entrance- you would be that confident hotshot on stage). However when we went up- as I recall it was the longest night I have ever perpetually lived!Imagine welcoming a crowd over 500 and forgetting all the notes that I have written, my legs trembled and I was stammering. It was like being the skiddish new kid on the block in the younger days.

Funny thing is even handling a crowd was suppose to be my sort of game, but these crowd was not very kind towards me that night as they were unresponsive and dead like a still quiet night. It was very hard to get any response from them! even it was just  pushing that "switch on" button to turn their moods from dead to party. So! putting on the best possible tolerating mask we both could wear, we tried to handle to crowd in the best way possible. And FINALLY the night ended.
Few days later, I started getting good feedback's about our first show. That made the seconds start ticking in my head- why not make my entertainment job? ;)

I must appreciate those people in my life who pointed me to the right direction. I had my first gig for a corporate event a month after my brothers wedding and I have never looked back since.

It's really astounding to walk down memory lane, as it feels like it was yesterday I went on stage for the first time not to setup a speaker nor to dance but to be the Master of Ceremonies.

I have to thank few people which is enlisted as below:

Menin Jessy
Big Bash Events (Ajay & Sheetal)
Hasheel Sidhu Services (Harry & Sanjit)
Ravs Studio (Ravi)
Dave Singh Studio (Dave|Love)

Here is a click on the start of the nonsense I have been bringing on my shows ever since:)

Much Love,
Emcee Bally Dhillon | The Loose Cannon
